Bakker Barendrecht, a Greenyard company, expands in Ridderkerk to build for a healthier future

Bakker Barendrecht slated on 17 September the first pole of a new building on Nieuw Reijerwaard (part of Dutch Fresh Port) in Ridderkerk, the Netherlands. The expansion of the existing packaging and distribution capacity was needed to be able to meet the current and growing demand for the best quality fruit and vegetables by its customers.

This expansion fits well within the current and future growth of Bakker Barendrecht, one of the largest fruit and vegetables companies in the Netherlands. The new distribution centre of 30,000 m² will be ready by mid-2020 and will incorporate disinfection gates, step docks and other new features that are based on BREEAM certification, ‘excellent’ rating, attesting to its sustainability and future-proofing. It’s clear that the project is not just to build a new warehouse, it’s to build the future of the company.
