Avocado Discovery Packs were recently launched in collaboration with a major UK supermarket chain, with early indications of very positive feedback.
The packs are designed to showcase different avocado varieties along with the familiar Hass variety. Customers can compare the subtly different flavours and textures in a convenient multi-pack, while retailers and growers continue to seek creative ways to reduce market dependence on one variety.
The current test marketing is for a seasonal line and extending this to other products would depend on variety quality and availability. Although there are no firm plans at present to extend the initiative to other fruits and vegetables, sales performance is being closely monitored to see if growers could offer further niche varieties.
